A rare Caucasian Cossack kindjal dagger, Shusha, Elisavetpol Province, Russian Empire, late 19th century, circa 1880s -1900s.
The hilt and scabbard mounts are made of melchior, decorated in the characteristic style associated with Shusha workshops in the Caucasus. The double-edged blade has a central fuller and a strong fighting form typical of Caucasian kindjals of the period.
A fine example of a late Imperial Russian Caucasian dagger, combining traditional Cossack and Caucasian form with regional Shusha decorative work.
