Its boldly curved blade is paired with an opulent hilt and scabbard richly decorated in silver niello, a demanding technique in which dark metallic compounds are fused into engraved ornament to create dramatic contrasts of light and shadow.
The decoration combines floral arabesques, geometric arrangements, and possibly talismanic motifs, reflecting the shared visual language of the Ottoman Balkans, where Greek, Albanian, Bosnian, and local artisanal traditions intersected.
