Double barrel percussion pistol, second half of the 19th cen. Probably made in Europe for a customer located in Russia. The pistol was converted back into a flint lock. The pistol could have been used as a hunting weapon as well as self defense. The Russian name between the barrels reads as “I. Bykov (˜. ‘)”. The name belongs to the gunsmith not the owner. In the Russian registry of gun makers of the time, there is a record of A. Bykov probably the father of our pistol maker. Also there is a hunting rifle made by A. Bykov at the State Historical Museum in Moscow. Length: 40 cm.

Russian shashka, with Monogram of the Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich Romanov model 1881. Blade was ordered by J.E.Bleckmann Solingen. Produced by Alexander Chelpanov, Sankt Petersburg. Blade with monogram of Alexandr 3. very nice and detailed work. The sword came from Hessen, Germany from heiress of Romanovs family. Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich of Russia (St. Petersburg 14 January 1850 (4 January O.S.) €“ Paris, 14 November 1908) was the sixth child and the fourth son of Alexander II of Russia and his first wife Maria Alexandrovna (Marie of Hesse). Destined to a naval career, Alexei Alexandrovich started his military training at the age of 7. By the age of 20 he had been appointed lieutenant of the Russian Imperial Navy and had visited all European military ports of Russia. In 1871 he was sent as a goodwill ambassador to the United States and Japan.
In 1883 he was appointed general admiral. He made a big contribution to re-equipping the Russian navy with new ships and in modernizing the naval ports. He was blamed for the Russian loss to the Japanese in the Battle of Tsushima. In 1905, he was relieved of his command. He died in Paris in 1908. Total length: 93,5 cm.Starting price: €25,000

Caucasian (Circassian) Russian shashka. Second half of the 19th c. This rare interesting shashka was made by a Circassian (Cherkess) craftsman in the 19th century. The grip is decorated in typical Circassian style (gilt Silver and niello). The blade has a small script and engraving. The scabbard is mounted in gilt Silver decorated with niello and deep engraving. Very good condition. A nice example of Caucasian shashka sword hard to find on the antique arms market. Total length: 90 cm.

Caucasian Russian shashka (sword), Dagestan, Russia 19th century. This magnificent Dagestani shashka is mounted in gilt Silver decorated with niello work and deep engraving of floral motif. The blade has Russian markings from “Zlatoust” Arms Manufactory. Very good condition. Hard to find an authentic shashka like this one on the antique arms market. Total length: 96 cm.
