Fine and rare Russian icon of Hexaemeron. Traditional iconography of 16th century: Deisis in the centre, weekday hollydays in the bottom, selected Saints under the Deisis grouped by rank. On the upper level are depicted martyrs and venerable wives; on the middle level – forefathers, venerables and martyrs; on the lower level – martyrs, prophets, Apostles and Saints. Between the lower level Saints depicted figures of holy infants. Romanov workshop, high artistic value in the manner of Spiridon Holmogorets and Guriy Nikitin. Romanov-Borisoglebsk, circa 1800.
