A rare set of four silver vodka beakers, each with a gilded interior and embossed with a St. George medal cross enclosing a central medallion. The set fitting one to each other as matryoshka is preserved in its original red leather-covered case. Such objects were often presented as top ranking regimental gifts (polkovoi podarok), marking service, loyalty, or special occasions within military units of the Russian Empire.
Konstantin Väkevä (Wiakeva), son of St. Petersburg goldsmith Stephan Wiakeva, worked as a Fabergé workmaster alongside his brother Alexander (1870–1957). He specialized in silver and gold objects, often of functional or commemorative character, marked with both his maker’s stamp and the Fabergé hallmark. Although his career was short, ending with his early death in 1902, his works reflect the high technical standards and refined simplicity associated with Fabergé’s St. Petersburg workshops.
